At TCM Spezialisten GmbH Praxis in Oerlikon, we try to help couples who are of reproductive age and are perhaps having some difficulties in achieving a natural conception.

Human fertility is the natural capability of creating a new life. Both women and men during their reproductive years contribute towards the wondrous creation of the new life of their offspring.

Most people are fertile during their peak reproductive ages, however, some people have difficulties in achieving reproduction despite having regular intercourse without the use of contraceptives.

Scientific research has shown that approximately 10% – 15% of reproductive age couples will experience difficulties in conceiving worldwide
(https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/infertility).

The difficulty in conceiving in females is called infertility. Infertility is categorised into primary and secondary infertilities. There are many causes, pathological mechanisms and risk factors in infertility.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, the causes of infertility are quite complex, but are mainly due to the deficiency of Kidney Yin and Kidney Yang, deficiency of Qi and Blood, or suppression of free flow of the Liver Qi.

Phlegm and dampness may also have effects on conceiving.

In order to make the TCM fertility treatment more effective, it is essential to establish the necessary physiological and pathological diagnoses. Prior to commencing our TCM fertility treatment, we suggest that our female clients have Western Medical investigations such as ovarian assessment for clients age between 35 to 42 to know their ovarian reserve state, ultrasound scans, tubal assessment eg Hysterosalpingogram, laporoscopy and hormone assessment etc.

Preferably a sperm test should be done for male clients before TCM fertility treatment.

We also provide advice and support for couples who want to have TCM treatments for helping them to conceive naturally such as giving dietary advice according to the individual patient‘s body constitution etc. during the first consultation at our Praxis.
